Crossing Guards, etc.

For those of you following the NextDoor post (https://nextdoor.com/post/104262443?init_source=copy_link_share) about speeding and other traffic infractions, mainly along Crest Rd., a question was raised about getting a crossing guard for the morning drop-off at Carrcroft Elementary. To save you the time reading that — the answer is no. The Crossing Guard Unit does not believe our situation warrants this measure. NCCPD has been alerted of the traffic issues there and elsewhere in the neighborhood. If you feel unsafe or witness a dangerous situation you can proceed to notify the NCCPD non-emergency number listed under the key contacts section of our site.

Reports of Speeding

Dear residents,

As many of you are aware we are facing an ongoing issue with reckless driving and excessive speeding along E. Crest Rd; particularly around the time of school drop off / pick up. There have been reports of people driving upwards of 50 mph, which is absolutely ludicrous. We all lead hectic lives and are in a rush to get to our next appointment, destination or otherwise. PLEASE do not put your safety and the lives of others at risk merely to shed a few minutes of travel time.

Thank you,

CCA Board

Thanks to Carrcroft Music Director Kara Costello and everyone else who made this week’s caroling event so successful. Hopefully we can keep this tradition going strong next year and well into the future!

Happy Holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from the CCA Board! We hope you’re all enjoying the holiday with your loved ones.

Last week was our community meeting and it was truly a pleasure to see so many residents come out in support of the neighborhood. We had several guests present to discuss pressing matters including traffic issues, crime reports, and upcoming community events. Thanks for everyone’s attendance and continued interest in making Carrcroft the best place possible.

E. Crest & Marsh Rd. Main Entrance – Landscaping Project

Dear Neighbors, as alluded to in our latest newsletter this fall we are rejuvenating the main entrance to Carrcroft with a landscaping project by Old Country Gardens. New planting will begin the week of Oct. 8th, and we are in need of assistance with watering and early care.

If you would be interested in helping please send a message to carrcroftcivicassociation@gmail.com. And thanks for your support!

Voice Your Concerns

The Carrcroft Civic Association (CCA) will be conducting a community forum on Wednesday, November 14th, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM in the Carrcroft Elementary School Library. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the business of the neighborhood including pressing traffic concerns of east Crest and Marsh Roads.

CCA would like to extend this invitation to all residents in the hope that we can engage in a thoughtful discussion about these and other issues that affect our neighborhood. Based on feedback received thus far we expect the Brandywine School District Superintendent, Carrcroft Elementary Principal, NCCPD community liaison, DelDOT Traffic Studies Manager, our District 8 Councilman, and a rep for our HD 6 Representative to all be in attendance.

The more residents we have in attendance voicing concerns about the community the more likely it is for action to be taken. With that in mind we hope to see you there.

Thank you.

An Update from the Board

... for the few who actually read this. Thank you, dear reader(s).

We, the CCA Board, are in the process of getting the fall newsletter together and are planning to hand deliver this edition. One thing to mention up front is that the next November community forum meeting location has changed to the Carrcroft Elementary School LIBRARY. The cafeteria is being renovated and will be unavailable for this event.

Also, dues reminders shall be sent out shortly, but you can pay anytime as mentioned in the information about civic dues on this site.

That's it for now. Have a great holiday weekend!
