CCA Spring Forum Summary

The annual Spring Forum community meeting was held this week at the Carrcroft Elementary School. The turn out was spectacular. There were literally tens of people present.

Councilman John Cartier (Eighth District) was good enough to join and provide an update to us  particularly interesting was that NCC intends to be more aggressive about vacant and nuisance properties by pursuing owners in court and moving properties to sheriff's sale, if necessary.

Other issues were discussed including the deteriorating road conditions throughout Carrcroft. We can continue to bring these concerns to the state/local representatives, but anyone can (and should) relay active issues to DelDOT Transportation Management Center (operating 24/7/365) at 302-659-4600 or https://deldot.gov/Traffic/ReportRoadCondition/index.shtml.

Elections of new CCA Board officers also occurred. Special thanks to the outgoing members for all your support with community activities. Finally, a Carrcroft family BBQ event is planned for next month. Check out the Events page for all those details.

The entire meeting minutes are posted to the website for convenience.

Carrcroft / Baynard Blvd. Construction

In late February, Castle Construction deposited numerous pieces of heavy equipment intended for the drainage project on Carrcroft and Baynard Boulevard. The CCA Board was not aware of the specifics with regard to the start date of this project. Those individuals who reside along this route should receive communication from either New Castle County or the contractor with further details. The current understanding is that residents will be notified approximately 24-48 hours in advance of days in which they should clear the street of vehicles. (Edit: Clearly this did not happen and the CCA was not alerted about the exact timeline of events. We have been told that the torn up lawns, malls, etc. will be addressed at the conclusion of this project.).

While the work is being performed there may be lane restrictions at times. Please exercise caution when traveling the area during active construction, and be mindful of the workers performing these activities.

Traffic Safety Devices

If you are intrigued by the idea of installing a red light traffic camera at the intersection of Marsh & Crest Roads or a radar speed sign along Marsh Road please join the CCA in contacting our representatives (see https://carrcroft.org/numbers/).

The implementation of traffic safety devices is a cumbersome process that requires our collective effort in order to enact positive change. If you are tired of the conditions for the Carrcroft Elementary student drop-off and want to see Brandywine School District be more proactive with employing a crossing guard then please contact info@bsd.k12.de.us (302-793-5000) and let your voice be heard.

CCA Sponsored Community Picnic

On June 16th (3:00 PM) at the grounds of Carrcroft Elementary please join us for a fun BBQ bash with hotdogs, buns and condiments! We kindly request that you bring side dishes and drinks to share.

Please click on the header above and use the comments section for this post to declare if you plan to attend. If you would also provide the details about the number of people and what items you'll be bringing it would be appreciated. For further information you may contact Marc Insinga marcinsinga@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you there!

NCC - Reports of Car Damage by BB Guns

Dear residents, please be aware of this vandalism affecting nearby communities. Any information can be relayed to JSBarnhart@nccde.org or The New Castle County Police at (302) 573-2800 and online at http://www.nccpd.com. As always, please do look out for your neighbors and report any suspicious activity!

Per news article (link below):

Residents of multiple New Castle County communities have damaged cars from apparent BB guns, county police said Tuesday. Holiday Hills, Kingsridge, Radnor Woods, Ashbourne Hills, Westwood Manor and Gwinhurst have all reported "numerous" vehicles damaged. County police said damage included broken windows and dent in cars.

Carrcroft Substation - Delmarva Facility

If you have traveled Marsh Rd. recently, and we all surely have, you may have noticed the glaring lack of trees that once shielded view of the Delmarva Carrcroft Substation. This natural barrier was destroyed in an effort to improve service reliability; however, as of today Delmarva has no intention of making this eyesore more appealing for the nearby communities.

The CCA Board has been working with local representatives in an attempt to persuade Delmarva to reconsider this decision. If you too wish to voice your concerns about this please contact customeradvocate@delmarvapower.com to share your thoughts.
