Evergreen Waste Services discount

CCA Board has received inquiries from some residents regarding a community discount if we get enough people to obtain Evergreen’s services. Evergreen has informed CCA that they require 75% participation to receive a discounted rate. That means recruiting approximately 89 more homes.

The discount would bring the trash/recycling cost down to roughly $84 per quarter or $108 for trash/recycling/yard waste per quarter. There is also a $40 delivery fee that would be waived for new customers. The “grace period” for the fee waiver would be for 6 months after CCA has informed the residents about the program.

Due to space limitations in our upcoming printed newsletter we’re going to rely on this website and Facebook as the means of notifying you. Additionally, Evergreen may send out their own flyers. Should you have any further questions about the program please contact Evergreen directly.

Suspicious activity on school grounds

Today the CCA Board was notified by Carrcroft Elementary School Principal Mark Overly of an increase in suspicious activity including vandalism on the school grounds. These acts are mostly occurring during evening hours and the NCCPD have been notified. Please we urge you to also contact the authorities if further issues are observed. Thank you.

Happy Thanksgiving

From the entire CCA Board we wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Also please check the EVENTS page for details of an upcoming holiday caroling event courtesy of Carrcroft Elementary. Tentatively this is scheduled for 12/15, but more details to come!

Yard sale, dues and other miscellaneous musings

Life and work often get in the way of posting much on this site. According to Squarespace analytics some people do continue to visit though. So for those who do here are some random thoughts:

  • Yes we are having a yard sale this year. The details are on the Events page and in the Calendar. Communicating such things is difficult because half our residential population prefers physical signs and the other half ignores them (but may read email… or even this site). If you would want to help CCA post some signs about the mall areas we could use your help. Please contact us and thank you!

  • CCA Board participation is in dire shape. COVID hasn’t helped us recruit new members especially as we’ve had limited in person meetings the last few years. We could use more help and fresh ideas so if you have even the slightest desire to serve your community please reach out.

  • It is challenging to keep up with who is new to the neighborhood so please we’d encourage you to let your neighbors know of this site so we can get their information.

  • Dues are being actively collected (as they always are) and are essential for us to maintain the neighborhood. There is a breakdown of what the funds are used for elsewhere on this site. Thanks if you’ve already paid.

  • We may have a fall community forum— this is still being decided, but if we do it will be posted to Events section with full details and agenda.

From the entire CCA Board we wish you well and hope you and your family are enjoying the summer.

Political / Campaign Signage

The Carrcroft Community and its civic association cannot endorse individual candidates for public office.  The entrance and grass median of all of our boulevards are owned and maintained by the community. Any such signs planted in these areas are not done so with approval of the Board.

I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes,

Snowplowing

Carrcroft is a difficult neighborhood to plow given the variety of wide and narrow streets, hills, and divided boulevards. Our contractor is aware of a few recent complaints regarding damaged grass patches and missed roads. Please continue to notify CCA if there are any issues, and we will contact the company on your behalf. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
